The call I answered showed the number unavailable. I was expecting a call so I answered. Ask to speak to me, I said you are. He went into the $9000 Grant winner, script. I just gave one word answers.. He got to verifying information right name, wrong address. He abruptly hung up. I have been getting calls from this one 202-407-9056 and 202-601-3230.

These scammers are persistent! No idea how long they have been trying to call me. I have noticed DC #'s for sometime and just thought it was a political organization in DC! 09/07@11:45 am I answered the phone, but before that when the sheriff was here my caller ID showed the same # 09/06@10:35 am, 09/05@11:15am,09/02@2:59am,08/30@5:35am, He said because I paid my taxes on time, and have not filed bankruptcy, that I was getting 9k in grant money. No taxes to pay on it and all he needed was my bank about number.
As that old saying goes if something sounds too good to be true it usually is.... I told him that my husband had the bank information and he needs to call back in a couple hours. Then I called the law!

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I've been called by this number several times now from a Asian lady about grant money. The first time they called it was $5,000 now it jumped up to $9,000. I'm not going to lie I fell into their trap, and I sent them money! After the whole ordeal I still never got the money. I new it was a scam when I was trying to buy the dog pack card and she wanted to to be secretive about it; that sent me the wrong signal, but me being foolish I still sent it to them.
So they transferred me to some banking company then the bankin company wanted money too. I didn't have anymore money to give, so they said sorry I can't help you then and hung up.
So today they called me saying the same BS from the first time! If this was a real thing you would already have me in the system right? Nope dead wrong. So I listened to see where it would take me; what do you know they tried to send me to this number(206) 866-5728
WA, USA to talk to an middle eastern guy again. I proceeded to tell him I've already done that money dog pack and they wanted to know how much I have sent them, so I told him. He seem to got a little butt hurt when I told him "I have already payed this fee before and you guys ripped me off" he thought I was directing this towards him. Which I wasn't, but if the shoes fit lace them up and wear them.
He was still trying to get me to pay another fee. He then told me very rudely "so do you want it or not" and I told him "no", and he left the line but never hung up so I did.

Ok well I got a call from these person so called Henry who sounded like indian, ( I myself am indian too and I couldn't understand them and told them to talk slow for me) yesterday 8/6/14 after 6:00pm (which made me suspicious) and told me I won 9,000 grant from new program of Obama and I can use this money for anything. They asked me how will i want to receive my money, Visa, Master, or Cash and I said Cash only because I felt this was fraud. They gave me a confirmation for the money and then told me to call their account manager. I call their account manager right away to do further process. Anyone can believe and fall for this when someone like me needs money for school right away. Anyways I call the manager and he also had all my info and address. Then he told me to go to 7 eleven, cvs or other stores like that and get "Green Dot Moneypak" and to call them back and go to Western Union to receive the 9,000.Before I even went and felt for this I did a lot I research FTC.gov and called the number to see if these people are a scam.

I am on the "No call " registry, but that doesn't seem to work. I have been sick and it has been hard for me to answer the phone as it is just to find out it's a scam number. I also googled the number and it is showing a telemarketing place. Also on the message he was wanting my bank account number or credit card to deposit the grant funds. I tried calling back the number but it rang with no voicemail. I called 10 times and the same thing happened. It is a fraud!

I got a call on 202-407-9056 from someone with a very thick accent telling me that I qualified for a grant of 9,000 from the government because I was one of 1700 people that qualified due to being in good standing, tax payer, no record etc. They asked to "confirm" my contact info which I provided (only what anyone can obtain w/o asking me anyway) . They then gave me a "grant claim number" and another phone number to follow up with for further instructions to claim my grant. The number they provided was 202-697-9374 and the contact name I was given was "Claudia Smith". I then called that number and made contact with "Claudia Smith" who repeated the same information the other gentleman gave me on the other line. She then asked how I preferred to receive the money via my bank account, visa or master card, or cash. When I selected cash she informed me to go to any Western Union to deposit $220 to verify my account and that $9220 would be returned to me once verified. She told me when I did this I would need to stay on the line with her to complete the transaction. I told her I would not have that amount available for a few weeks. She told me to call her back at that number to complete the transfer when I had the money available to transfer. I have no intention of calling back as I am not aware of any government programs in which the person on the receiving end does not have to take pro-active steps to apply before an offer is made nor am I aware of any programs that require you to put money upfront for verification. It is customary that when one is offered a grant it is because they took steps to apply for it and they are provided with a check or a card linked to an account furnished by the government for that purpose. Logic would dictate that if it takes a bunch of beuracratic red tape and weeks of waiting for assistance such as food stamps and unemployment, why would free money that for many is a few months salary be as easy as a phone call.

So they have called 4-5 times over a 6 month period. Each time they go through their story about how since I filed my taxes on time and have not filed bankruptcy the government picked 1700 folks to get free money that was not necessary to be repair. They said I was to get 9000.00. Each time they call its a different amount. I knew in advance it was a SCAM. So I played along. They wanted to verify information like address, name, DOB, etc. I have them false information. Of course they claimed that matched their records. Stupid wankers. They said I could give them my bank account number and they would put the money directly into my account. Right.......... Or they could put it on a Mastercard or Visa. Right............ Or I could go to Western Union location and get cash for a handling fee. Right..................I could hear dozens of voices in a call center. They man had a heavy Indian accent and had to repeat things multiple times. Finally they put me on the phone with a supervisor that would walk me through the process of going to Western Union, give them a 'code' to collect my money. They code would be their account number for the fee. Once their, one of their folks would get on the phone to handle the instructions which means they would tell them to take your money.
Dont fall for these SCAMS. F*CK the Indian call centers.
I played along to waste their time until I finally told them while I had them on the line I pulled up their number and read off information about their SCAM. You will likely be surprised but they actually hung up on me? Wha??????? :-)

It was a foreign woman who called to say that my government has been trying to get in touch with me because they picked 700 people to receive $9000 to do just good things with and I was one of those people, And if I wanted the money by Cash, Visa or MasterCard. I replied you can send me a visa card. She then replied no no I explain- you have Visa card right? you give us the number when I pass you over to our count supervisor and we put it on your card. I then told her that I was not going to give her any of my credit card information. And then replied why don't you just put it into my checking account. And then continued to tell her - you are the government, you send me a check every month, so you have my account information already So just put it in there. She then replied let me explain, we tried a few months ago to make such deposit and he came back as an error and because of that we no need to do either Visa MasterCard or cash and I said okay I'll take the cash you can wire me the money! no we give cash by your checking account I then said I thought you had an error that way! and then I hung up.

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I had a hard time understanding what she was saying because our connection was bad and she called my cell phone. I finally heard what she said and she offered me a $9000 grant that the government said I could have. She said I bet you want to know why you were picked. I said Yup sure do.. Then she proceeded to tell me that last Dec the government did a survey in my City and State and because I have paid my taxes and have not filed bankruptcy in the last 6 months that I can get it. I proceeded to inform her that SINCE last Dec I have moved out of state. There was a pause on the line and she repeated what she said. I said to her I dont think you understand me lady. I DONT LIVE IN THAT state anymore. Then she said what you dont want the money. I said no thank you.. Well its your money not ours. I said that is ok I dont live in that state anymore so I dont want to get in trouble. Then she hung up on me.
