This person left a message on my machine stating that he was Patrick DelCosta and the IRS issued an arrest warrant.

This is a scam. IRS always contacts by US Mail first. They don't even have your telephone number in their records.

This is so obviously a scam. The IRS will contact you by letter if it has something it wants to communicate to you. Here is a link to an ABC story on the scam: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/phone-scam-caught-tape-25336681

I note that the phone number is from the same 202-241-XXXX source as the number belonging to "officer Patrick deCosta" AND the voice that the ABC reporter spoke with is the same voice that left a message on my answering machine. Why the phone company doesn't shut down this number (or any belonging to these scams) is beyond me.

Threatened arrest and calling from IRS and then started comically talking about how he wanted to lick this and that, etc. etc. blah blah blah....not sure what the idiot's intention is... if anyone falls for this non-sense I am sorry but sharpen up folks... this guy is obviously and totally illegitimate.. there is nothing even remotely real sounding in anything he says. The guy is just a blabbering idiot who is obviously bored and unemployed. Good grief...you can't even call this a scam...it is an adult guy who quite literally has the mentality of a an idiot...

Left two messages so far claiming there is someone watching me and my home and that there is a warrant and I must call immediately to clear this issue. He did ask for anyone specific and he had a heavy accent (Indian).. My home # is public and not even under my name. We never use our land line it is for DSL only... Needless to say this was a fraud call. Annoying and uncalled for. Hopefully something can be done to stop this type of fraud attempt.

I just got this call about a half hour ago. Extremely convincing until he told I could not mention to anyone. That was about 15 minutes into the call. Then I'm told that I have to use a prepaid card. That was the moment I thought something can't be right - So I looked up the number on the googs and found a lot. All I got to say is WOW...

A recording indicating that I had been targeted by the IRS, my home was being watched and a warrant had been issued for my arrest. I was told to contact this number.

Caller was male and had an accent. It was pretty oobvious to me that it is a scam of some sort.

A male (Indian or pakistani) voice saying he is from IRS and there is an arrest warrant for me and my house is currently being monitored.

Called back and let him have an earful. Left my number on his answering machine and told him what I was going to do to him when I find his scamming A##. No one ever called back.

The IRS does not leave threatening messages. If they need to contact you, they will mail you, so they have a record of the contact.
