Just got this same call on my cell phone. I was not excited about getting $9,000 free dollars, it didn't sound right. The guy sounded foreign which made me more suspicious. I was tempted to hang up but wanted to hear him out just in case. He said this money could be given on my prepaid cards or bank account. I knew that would require information from me. He asked which method I wanted to receive it in. I said "mail it to me" He said that wasn't an option. My scam senses went from caution to full alert. It then occurred to me that I hadn't heard him address me by name. If I'm selected, then he should know my name so I said, "what is my name? Do you know my name?" He then hung up on me. I wonder how much they wanted to steal from me.
Basically got a call from (202) 210-0054. Same story line as the prior comments except he told me that he was from the a new branch of the US government providing grants ($9K) for people being a good citizen. I googled the number as the scamster was talking and read everyone's comments. So I knew what he was gonna say before he said it. I asked for his Federal Government Employee ID number. He made up some BS number (V0510). I told him I worked for the government (I don't), and that I was gonna verify him by back-tracing his ID number and the number he was calling me from. I told him to wait a few seconds while I accessed the government online site. He hung up right away. LOL. I actually called back a few times and no answer.
Just had this same call 202 511-2457 thick Asian accent said that my # was chosen at random for a Loyal citizen grant because I had paid my taxes on time- I said well then you should know my name what is it? they didn't-I asked well how do you know if I paid my taxes then? clearly a scam trying to get an account # or credit card # to scam- I blocked the # after I hung up-hoping someone doesn't fall for this garbage-
I just got off the phone with a lady who said the same exact thing. So I had a little fun by asking her to say words that's hard for anyone to say if they're not american. I thought it was funny. Then she told me to call this number 202-407-9094 and speak with this guy Ricky to receive my money through western union. What a joke.

Caller name: Justin
The response number I was given was 206-201-2037.
I was also told I was selected to be given 9,000.00 from the federal government. The caller identified himself as Justin from the United States Treasury to go to my closest western union and call them back with the ID code LE401.

I was scammed out of my money!!! Was called by a guy who told me I was awarded a grant, I was stupid enough to give some information. They took enough money. I caught on early enough. I haven't said anything yet, until I get more numbers to catch these b******s!!!!!
lmao i have created a fake pay-pal/ prepaid credit card account just for scams like this and while i searched there phone number i found a various amount of info on them (such as here) and found this site and when i did a bit of reading myself (here) i gave them the "fake"info and now im waiting on the resaults from the institutions(s) and then if scam they are definately going to be caught
Caller spoke with a thick Caribbean accent; said the same as all the other comments - i was chosen to receive a $9000 government grant that did not need to be paid back. he spoke very quickly so i kept interrupting him and making him slow down and repeat. I asked for the name of the agency and made him say it really slowly - the human health Ageny....no such thing. I told him I would verify that this was a legitimate prgram and call him back. he got argumentative and was saying, "what, you want free money?? You could have this money in 45 minutes; just give me a credit card number, debit card number or bank account number!"
I want to know why this scam is still allowed to be going on and noone has shut it down? The comments go back at least a year!!
Lady with a thick accent from the "U.S. Treasury" informing me that I was one of 1500 people selected for a $9000 "loyal citizen" grant for good businesses who paid their taxes to remain in good relation with the government. She asked how i would use the money. when i asked again who she was with, she hung up.

A guy with a thick foreign accent just called me from this number and said I won a tax free $9,000 grant from the US Government. He asked me if I wanted to know how to claim it and then hung up when I called him a fraud.

No phone number showed on my caller ID, only the name anonymous. The conversation was identical to those described above. I believe the woman had a Filipino accent and when I told her I was going to report this scam she told me she would hang on while I did it. I told her to call some other deserving citizen and she called me an old woman whose brain was not working right. Told her she should hope that's who I was.
I received the same call from the same # (202-210-0054) from a guy with a heavy mid-east accent telling me I would get $9,000. While he was talking I googled the 'Loyal Citizen Grant' & confronted him with the fact that it was listed as a scam.
I asked him if I could have his phone # so I could turn it over to the police. He used the '202' area code, but then the rest of the # was my phone #. When I confronted him on this he hung up on me.
Oh well, guess I'm out $9,000... }:-)
Caller name: This is the US Federal Government
Woman with foreign accent said she is with the US Government, and I have just qualified for $9,000. She started her dialog about how I qualified for $9,000, then the phone call ended abruptly. Since I have DoNotCall on my cellphone number, apparently she saw that and hung up. I will turn this number in to the DO NOT CALL site.
Caller name: Don't know
Lady with a thick accent called me and told me that I had won 9,000.00 dollars for being a loyal citizen since I paid all my bills on time, and had no criminal record.
When she said that I paid all my bills on time and had no criminal record I knew she was lying. I have a criminal and I do not pay my bills on time. LOL
I started laughing at her, and she hung up.
She must think we are all I all idiot's.
Although, since then I have been sober, and try to pay my bills on time, but I still have a record.
Caller name: LINDA

When I asked her how did she get my number she hung up.

Lady called, said that I had been selected to receive a $9000 grant and gave me several restrictions as how I could spend the money. I could not use it for paying any loans or starting any type business, ect. She was extremely hard to understand. When I told her 'ok', send me the money, she hung up. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!

I received a cellphone call saying that I was one of the "Select Few" in my local area that was to receive $9000 from the federal government. For me to receive the funds I had 2 options. The first option was to provide routing and account number to either a checking or savings account. The second option was to put it on my credit /bank card. I then asked what agency is this, she proceed to say the survey was provide by "Health and Human svc" and the US Treasury Dept @ 1500 in Washington DC. I then asked for her name, she replied "Eleana" then the line DEAD.

they told me to call back 206-866-5706 and give them my confirmation i.d # and I was selected for 1500 government personal grant money and all I had to do was pay them 180 dollars to process my application and I told them I do not have 180 dollars and they said they would put my application on hold till I could I have the money and I did not give him any personal info and I hung up I I think it is a total scam
I received a call from a blocked or unknown number and they told me that I was eligible for $9,000 in grant money he gave me a confirmation number and another phone number to call back he told me to call. I looked up'$9000 grant" and found this website. I never did call the number h e gave me which was 202-436-9793.. The man I spoke with had a really deep accent said he worked for the US Treasury they called it the loyal citizen grant because I paid my bills on time, and did not have a bankruptcy . I was told to call immediately after I hung up from the phone call.
Same story as everyone else, let the guy get through his script and he told me I could get the funds in a bank transfer, credit card or gift card. I said "send me a gift card". He said he couldn't do that. I asked him why and he said the only options were a bank transfer or credit card transfer and it had to be something with more than a 0 balance or negative balance.
I then asked him if he f*****g thought I was so goddamned stupid as to give him banking information over the telephone. He didn't have an answer and hung up.
Creepiest thing. Thick accent, can barely understand him, telling me I am receiving 7000$ Grant, that he is calling from the government from Washington D.C. I'm aware it's a scam but am wondering how they will go about this. They tell me I was randomly selected, haven't filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months, and he says I don't need to give him any information only affirm what he will provide. Then he asks if my name is Jenny. And I said no, and then he goes you aren't Jenny? and I'm like no. And he goes then who the h**l are you? in a threatening manner. Terrifying.
called and said the federal Government was issuring 9000 dollars out to customers and they woulnt have to pay back and i said i know that the world is full of scamers and the lady with the thick accent hung up I dont know where these in humans get peoples phone numbers and i would glady support all customers in which these scamers called and press charges to the highest level of the law.
Caller name: 206-201-2606
Wow! Soooo many people with the same story. The guy who just called me was definitely of Indian decent. I let him speak and went on to tell him that I would never give out my banking info or credit card info over the phone. He got frustrated and asked me if there was a western union near by. He then asked me to call another number 206-201-2606 to speak to a man named Mike Kelvin. Kelvin would then instruct me on how to collect my 9000 in cash with some confirmation number. Totally creepy! This group needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law!!!
I received a call ( 0123456789 as caller id ) I answered just to hear what they wanted. It was a man with a middle eastern voice. He said I had been selected by the government due to "clean background" to receive $9000 & asked for my information. Didn't give it to him. But then said to call his manager so the money could be released to me. Call back number...... 202-738-4625. Not now, nor will I ever call them
Caller name: Unknown ID
Same as the rest here. Male caller said he was from the US Department of Grants. Heavy accent, lots of background noise, so it was difficult to understand him. Offered me a grant of $9000 for being a good and loyal citizen, defined as one who paid my bills and taxes, and never declared backruptcy. I let him run through his spiel, just waiting for him to ask for account information, and sure enough, he said I could receive the money through a bank transfer or on a credit card. I said, "The federal government is going to credit my credit card account for $9000?" He said yes, and I knew this was a scam. When he asked whether I wanted the money on my credit card or bank account, I told him to send me a check. He said they couldn't do that. I said I think this is bulls*** and you're a scammer, then hung up on him.
