Caller name: Some International Computer Consortium

They barely speak English, the number calling from is bogus, they say my computer is issuing errors somewhere but don't know anything about any of my computers (they say it's windows OS, Duh!), they say they are in partnership with microsoft, the background noice is obviously a telemarketing type environment, or God forgive, a prison work system, It's scarey, they won't stop calling, they call on my cell phone so it costs me every time they call and I'm on the donot call list. Why can't we block this BS!!!!

This person with an accent (man) told me I had problems with my computer,. This is the third call. I felt like it was a scam the first time so on the second time I told him I did not have a computer. He hung up quickly. He called again tonight. I told him to take me off his calling list. He asked me if he could ask me just one thing, I said yes. He said I was s**y and he wanted to f--- me. I yelled at him and I'm so maaaaad. Of course he hung up. his number is 202-202-1234 out of D. C. can not call him back. WHAT A SHAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caller name: "David"

Perhaps an international call or from someone whose first language is not English, this caller said he represented Microsoft and that "this call is about your computer." He said that my computer was "sending out some major error messages" and asked "are you in front of your computer?" I told him that he should not be calling me and asked him not to call here again, to please remove our # from the calling list.

Received a call from this number. Same as a lot of others. Heavy indian accent, callcenter sound in the background.

He couldn't give me my computer's IP adddress nor did he know what a trace route was. He proceeded to try to get me to pull up my "Computer's CLSID" by openning command prompt and typing in "assoc" which isn't going to do jack squat on a Windows 8 system.

It was fun, but eventually I informed him that he was barking up the wrong tree and he hung up on me.

Phone has been ringing and no one is present yet there is no click to indicate a disconnect. My internet is with Verizon via a usb modem. I live rural and occasionally shop online with major and known retailers. However, just this month my internet data usage exceeded the contracted amount about 10 days into the billing cycle. We have noticed discovering the internet connected several times and know for a fact it was disconnected when we were done......we get charged for data when the computer is left on. This ghost phone calls began then. Today I called back the 202 202 1245 # and got a non number message from the phone service. Now, I unplug the modem when not in use and Verizon and I am monitoring the use. However several times this month the internet was connected in the am on rising and I know for a fact it was disconnected and the computer in sleep mode when I went to bed....no open windows everything closed up. Someone is hacking into my internet connection and using all of my data allowance. I am clueless as to how it is happening but will soon be replacing my modem with a new tech phone.......could that be a coincidence? Verizon just called yesterday for us to update our phone and "contract".....hmmmmmmmm Maybe it's just Obama's NSA and IRS at it again. Oh! That's right! Verizon, Google and Obama are all tight buddies! :(

Just got a call on my land-line from this number . . . same as the other comments, Indian accent, noise in the background, didn't know my name, etc. He told me that he had important information about my computer sending major error messages and something about my operating system . . . I asked him how that could be because I don't own a computer. He said, what about a laptop . . . I said no, don't have a laptop either . . . he started to say something and I interrupted him and said "Dude, I'm blind" . . . he hung up!

Same as above, Indian accent, from DC, etc.
He calls at least two times a day now.
I just answered it this morning again, and told him he was a scammer, and that the FBI was after him. Then I hung up....
He then tried calling me again, immediately....Of course, I laughed inside. YOU SCAMMER!!!!!!!!

Here is how to stop this if you are a ATT customer. Other companies probably have the same thing.

Call ATT and sign up for "Smart Limits". You can block any number for FREE for up to 90 days. After that it is $4.99 per month if you do not cancel it. I just put in in my calendar to remind me so I can cancel it.

Good Luck

Now some commentary: If this is a known number that is scamming why have the phone companies not stopped giving them service? The phone companies are part of the problem if they will not delete these scammers numbers.
The phone companies are making money off these criminals, that's why. Call and complain to your company.

I keep getting a call from 202-202-1234 at various times of the day for weeks. I was able to answer the phone and a man told me that I had viruses on my personal computer, and it was the one with windows on it. I asked which one since I have several personal computers and he repeated the one with windows. then he hung up on me. I then looked it up and several sites say that this number is a scam. I am also on the national do not call registry. How do I make sure this number stops calling me? it is obnoxious!!!!!
