Caller name: Julie from Rewards Center
Missed a call from this number while at work. Google sent me here. Called back to receive an automated system. Something about a "rewards card" (aka scamming BS). Says to press 1 to get the card or PRESS 2 TO BE REMOVED FROM THE LIST. Definitely pressed 2.
I've received two calls from this number. It rings once or twice (hard to tell phone is on vibrate) and then hangs up and does not leave a voicemail. I reported this to the FTC via Do Not Call compliant form but since I have no idea the nature of this organization it's unclear whether or not they are governed by do not call and even if they are I'm not confident that filing the complaint form will do much. That said, I guess it couldn't hurt.
Called at 5pm, rang for about 3 seconds, then hung up. Probably stole my number, as I NEVER put my number down on anything unless it is a legitimate company that I know and trust. My number is registered on the do not call registry.
It is a system that randomly tries phone numbers. If it rings it hangs up and counts it as a good number to be sold to marketers. If it errors then it hangs up and knows that is not a good number. One way to fight is to see if they can proved a calling error prompt right before your phone actually rings. It fools those computers and causes it to kick out of any auto-dialer computer.
