Woman with heavy carribean accent called at 4:50am this morning and would not say who she was or where she was calling from but kept asking if I was the computer user and said it had been hacked. I hung up and she called again in a few minutes and I said I was on a Do Not Call list and she hung up. I have seen this name: DUMONT and this number: 201-338-6210 before.

Called telling me my computer had been hacked with malware. Gave me a 36 digit CLS ID to prove he was ligit. Name didn't match heavy Indian accent. I told him that I did not trust him and would not cooperate. He gave me the number 1-866-539-8674 to call back and said only ligit companies have toll free numbers. I almost laughed out loud. Anyone can get one of those. Bottom line, I don't know how they found me but I won't answer either of these numbers again.

Called me today - heavy accent - said he was calling about my computer - I immediately told him if he ever called me again I would track him down and destroy him. This is not the first call. Last time they called, a man told me that he was calling about a problem on my computer. I told him "yea right, I bet you are" and I hung up. I am on a no call list. Don't know how to stop this. Is there any recourse????

I am certain this is a scam as Microsoft doesn't call you--You call them with problems. However claimed he was with Microsoft and that my PC--which wasn't on had sent virus report. I told him my computer wasn't on, and he ordered me to turn it on and he would help get rid of the virus. Told him no, and not to call again, he kept talking, I hung u[. Number called back twice. Collected time and number on caller ID and Reported number to FTC and also warned my family and friends in the area about the scam as older and younger people are often vulnerable to such trickery.

Called twice this week. The first time it was a male with a heavy accent saying my computer was infected with a virus. I hung up on him. Called tonight after 11:pm. I'm usually in bed by then. I answered to give them a piece of my mind but no one was there.

Called around 9:30 am but didn't answer because know no one in 201 area code. Listened to answering machine and heard lots of garbled voices in background. Several seconds later a male voice said "hello" and then hung up. Looked up the caller id number on google and went to this site. Decided to call the number back to hear what kind of response I would get when I told them this was a scam. Let ring for 12 minutes- no one picked up. Perhaps everyone should call them at the same time and tie up their lines!

Last night a man with a thick Indian accent started calling me claiming he was from windows security virus center and my computer was being hacked. The scary thing is he knew my little daughters name and asked for her. After I told him he couldnt talk to her as she was a minor he became very frustrated but would not let me off the phone. I hung up he called back over and over. He would not take no for an answer even after I called him out on this phony scam. I eventually had to block the #. look out for (201) area codes. He even gave me a call back # of 866-539-8674; Hope this helps someone.

a man with a very heavy Indian accent wanted to speak with my husband; he called my husband by name. Since we have a listed number in my husband's name, I wasn't really surprised. He said that our computer was infected by a virus. I asked him what company he was calling from and he said it was Microsoft best support center. I could hear other people talking in the background and it was obvious it was a call center. He specifically wanted to speak with my husband and gave me a call back number. It is 866 / 539- 8674. needless to say, we will not call back. It is obviously a fraud/scammer situation!

(unless it was an emergency or bad news) It was a man that had such a heavy accent that I barley could understand him. Guy with heavy south Asian accent called, same c**p as mentioned in most of posts above. I acted stupid for a bit, let him try to convince me my PC has a virus [all Macs and Linux here], got to the point where I was telling him my keyboard didn't have a Windows symbol, just some squiggly line, then I turned it on him, told him I was named Lord Shiva and I would turn my trident of destruction toward the phone and use it on him, then told him to never call me again and remove my phone number from his list [not that I expect he'll do that], then hung up on him.
