Caller name: Student Loan Forgiveness Scam

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

This scammer calls mobile (cell phone) numbers in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further violate the TCPA by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. Their recording states that the victim has had their student loans (this victim doesn't have any student loans, and the mobile number in question has never been affiliated with a student loan) flagged for debt forgiveness by President Obama. This is clearly a scam. Do not provide this scammer with any personal or financial information.

Received calls to home phone and now cell phone. Caller states they are aware of my student and can provide Links pay off assistance! Reported calla to home number, calls stopped at home. Now calling cell number! Though Cell phones to be off limits from these type of calls? Will report to FCC.

Annoying, over the past three days have received two calls daily from this number.

Didn't answer the call because I don't know anyone in Hackensack. Definitely a telemarketer and I am on the no call registry. Hate when they totally disregard it.

I talked to a woman who told me this was the National Student Loan Center. There was significant background noise so I can only assume it was some kind of telemarketer. I asked how they got my number, especially since I do not have any student loans nor did I attend college. The woman hung up on me immediately. I called the number back only to get an automated message saying if they had reached my cell phone in error "press 1" to be removed from the list. After six tries I finally got confirmation ( recorded message) that my number had been removed from their list. I believe that this is a scam and no one should give these people ANY information. I can only hope that law enforcement will shut down these telemarketers since they are NOT allowed to call cell phones but have done so in this case plus they stole my time as I tried to make sure they didn't call me again.

This scammer also calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further violate the TCPA by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. When you do get to an operator, they still further violate the TCPA by hanging up when asked for a phone number and physical address - information that is not only required by law, but that any legitimate business would gladly provide for anyone they wanted to do business with. Their recording states that the victim has had their student loans (this victim doesn't have any student loans, and the phone number in question has never been affiliated with a student loan) flagged for debt forgiveness by President Obama. This is clearly a scam. Do not provide this scammer any personal or financial information.

Receive a call from this number. Left an automated message about my student loan. I called back and an operator picked up. I told them I do not have a student loan and they hung up.

Looks like a scam to get my personal information like social security number.
