Man with a thick middle eastern accent keeps calling my house and says we have a problem with our Windows Operating System. When I asked him if he is trying to sell me a product he hung up. He knows who he is calling and called my wife and I by name. The call originates from a VOIP connection: V04190950390043011-123-456-7809.
I believe this is a scam.

The person with a heavy East Indian accent wanted me to boot up my computer and tell her what hidden files were on it. Said she was technical dept for Windows. I asked how she got my number and she said from the store where I purchased my computer. I asked why I should tell her anything about files on my computer and she replied that a hidden file could cause the computer to freeze. I laughed , told her not to call again and hung up.

This is a scam. He said I reported problems with my computer, then he said he got my name from a survey. THIS Has to be a scam!
I asked to be put on their Do Not Call list, I wish there was a way, to find out if this is a company or a person.. Nice to think if, someone at the phone companies could BLOCK Calls OUT. If the phone number was Unknown Name (and/or) A number like 23-456-7809.
Delete their phone service. I hate scammers.
a guy with a middle eastern accent called and finally after previously receiving over 100 calls from this number in the past year I decided to answer and when I did he was very polite to start with and said the call was in regards to business reputation management and that he was from Sydney from a company called Zoom web media....... the number he called from was 1234567809
I nicely asked if he could take our number off his records as we receive many calls and are trying to run a business and I wasn't interested. He said no I am sorry i cant do that. i said well if you don't i will report you and then he said yes mam well I have your address and your details and I will come to your house tonight and we can sort it out. I said I beg your pardon. then he repeated it and said he has all my details Miss Nicole Brooker from Efficient Pest Control and I will come to your house later tonight and sort it all out. I said for the last time I am going to report you and then hung up.

Indian guy and lady called on this number. I strung them along to see exactly what they were trying to do.
They had me open up my inf folder and said all those file where downloaded to my computer without my permission. Complete BS. They also said that the rundll32.exe files in my prefetch folder were corrupted. Also highly unlikely.
They tried to get me to use some remote desktop software, Ammyy.com but I refused. Ammyy actual knows about these scammers. http://www.ammyy.com/en/admin_mu.html
I tried to get them to say what they were looking for on my computer but they never could say exactly. Don't know what their end game is, but most likely it's to get access via remote desktop to go phishing.
They were quite persistent, but eventually the call was disconnected when I told them I was a computer expert working in IT. Made for a good laugh.
This a scam I let it go to voicemail the last time they called they said they were from Microsoft, when I asked what division they could not answer, when I told tell they are a scam and I worked for Microsoft they hung up....

Man with a thick Indian accent called and told me that I had recently acquired a terrible virus and that I needed to open up something for him on my computer. It was sketchy at first because my hard drive, coincidentally, did crash yesterday and my computer was experiencing difficulties for awhile beforehand; the call was still obviously a scam.
