Response to Gumtree add for the sale of my car; almost word for word the above examples.

Hello,

Thanks for the swift response, I need you to understand that i am
willing and ready to purchase it right away as i really appreciate the
price stated in the AD, however i will like you to re-confirm the
price by stating it in your return e-mail for verification, possibly
have more pictures of it, put it off the AD site and consider me as
your favorite buyer as i am buying this for my Dad and due to the
nature of my job and my present location as i am a marine engineer...i
will not be able to come for inspection,i'm a very busy type as i work
long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am
satisfied with it.

As for the payment..i can only pay via the fastest and secure way to
pay online i.e (PayPal) here, as i do not have access to my bank
account online, but i have it attached to my pay pal account, and this
is why i insisted on using pay pal to pay.

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after
the payment has been made ...so no shipping included and With the
issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of
all paperwork will be done by the courier services company agent so
you don't have to worry about that as I will be providing you with my
drivers licence. It will be so sweet if you can send me your PayPal
email now so i can
pay in right away and also include your address in your reply as i
don't really have much time on here.If you don't have a paypal
account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com.au and
sign up its very easy but if you don't feel like signing up, just get
back to me with your bank details... i would have loved to talk to you
on phone
but i work mainly on the sea and our phone network is down on the sea
right now due to bad stormy weather, that was why i sent you a text, i
even wonder how my message delivered to your phone but for now we can
only communicate through the same mailing channel.await your reply
asap.

Regards,
Solomona.

I advertised my car on gumtree and the next morning received a text from this number and under the name of Rice Eden, asking me to kindly reply by e-mail. I replied then he replied back with a long e-mail explaining about how busy he is working in an Oil and Gas in New Zealand and buying this car for his son blah blah blah...wanted to pay $300 so I could take the add of gumtree as he is buying it.

He asked for me bank account details, then he advised that the courier company can't pick up the car unless he pays the through western union which he cannot access to at where he is. He then asked me if I could do that for him once he transfers the car amount plus the courier fees. That is when I suspected that there is something wrong here, then searched the number and saw all these complaints.

The same occurred to me as did Susan!
I was trying to sell my jackets on gumtree, and received a text, I replied via email and they were asking for the asking price, which I had listed on gumtree. I told them and they replied back offering $50 extra and asked if they could pay via PayPal. I said fine when they replied back with the same bs story they told Susan! Asked for my name address and paypal email. Foolishly I responded and the next email said about
transferring $900 Aud to my paypal account, of which $310 were to go to so called pick up agent via Western Union! I did nothing but check my account, there wasn't any amount there! I replied for them to cancel their funds for I was done with them, as if they ignored me/ not seen my reply, they send an email with the subject of Worried! Please reply asap if you haven't done the transfer.
Once more I replied stating the same as before of there not being anything in my account!
Only now did I think of doing some investigating after finding out that Western Union is only mainly used to send money to family or friends or people you know personally, and now when searching google for this so called Gina Fils, I found this site!
Curse them, Curse all the scammers!
These scum don't deserve to live!

First contact with me was via txt from 0428465117 a day after I listed my bike on Gumtree asking was my bike still for sale and if I could get back to him via email. I emailed him and said it was still for sale. I then got this email back "Hi mate, thanks for getting back. What's the present condition and final sales price of the bike? Also when last was it serviced?" along with this phone number 0894680216. I then tried to ring him and just got the answering machine with a message from a mail with an foreign accent (Indian / Pakistani). I then answered the email answering the question he asked. " Ok mate, I am happy with the bike present condition and ok with the price of $4,000. I live in Woolner and that's where the bike is coming. No need to worry as my pickup agent will come for the pickup of the bike after payment has been made and cleared to your account. please get back to me with your bank details or alternatively your PayPal email address and also the address for the bike to be picked after funds have cleared to your account". Woolner is in NT and the phone numbers do start with 08 however 089 is WA. Definitely a scammer I would say and not all that smart. It smelt like a rat to start with but I needed to let it go to see if it really was. IT IS and now it will be WAS.

He/She emailed back that they had just moved to the UK and that further arrangements would be made.

I then responded (knowing that it was a scam) with a barrage of expletives and have blocked the phone number.

After about an hour or two of posting my car on Gumtree got a text message from this number asking if my car was still for sale and if i could send through more photos and the final price. It also said only via email and he is a miner.
Of course I responded to it!
He responded asking how long i had been using it, making sure nothing had been left out and that he could pay what I was asking.
I thought GREAT, nice quick sale.
It said they would require their shipping company to pick it up and I started asking questions like how I would verify the company was picking it up for they.
They completely ignored this question and said they would need a bill of sale, my account details and to remove the number plates and consider it sold. He even gave me a full name Scott R Salter, and address in WA AND a licence number.

I should have been sceptical when a person from WA was wanting to by a base model car in QLD and have it shipped. But what sold it was when he gave me an address that when 'googled' does not exist!!!!!!
Be VERY VERY careful, there is even a linked in account for Scott Salter, who lives in WA in mining telecommunications, even though FAKE Scott said he was a coal miner.
I receiver all of these emails from srsalter@gmail.com

Seems like a scam...

Thanks for getting back to me,The price of what am buying as advertised is okay by me by offering $100 to hold it and make sure it sold to me alone.. I will strongly like to make an outright purchase of this immediately due to your Integrity as stated in your ad which shown that your a real seller,I really love the condition of what am buying but please for further assurance that this real just email me some pictures of it asap.. I may sound rude, but please understand that i have to be caution of what am buying as well due to untruthful seller here.. I would have come down myself for the inspection and make the transaction done in person but due to the nature of my work i couldn't..i'll like to know the following:

(1) How long have you had it?

(2) I will like to know the reason why you are selling it..

(3) Hope i'll enjoy it?

(4) What are the major problem of it?

Note that i'll be responsible for shipping and handling. I have decided to use the program "Buyer and Seller Protection" offered by PayPal Inc in order to make the transaction done fast cos it take 2-3 days business. Do bear with me and get back to me on time with your PayPal account name and email or easily send an invoice to this same email am using to communicate with you as its the same thing with my PayPal also. I want only legit transactions! If you are not aware of how they operate you should know that they will give both of us proper protection and also if you don't have an account yet you can simply set up one via www.paypal.com.au after payment is confirmed to you by PayPal, you'll receive a confirmation stated that someone has sent you money, that means if you use this your email address to set up the PayPal account as well.. We are selling a saxophone on gumtree and this is getting pretty suspicious.
Things aren't as they seemed, we asked $800 for the sax and they have put $1450 in my daughters Paypal account, now they want our address so the "shipping agent" can pick it up...

I have a car for sale. He wanted us to pay his contact in China Jinshuang Zhu for freight costs before he released the funds for the freight and the car sale.

He used what looks like a paypal email to send me details of the transaction which is waiting for me to send some money to china via Western Union. He even 'gave' me an extra $100.00 for doing the transaction for him. How kind!

No money has been transferred by us anywhere. Can these people be stopped, arrested??

Always suspect of emails with random numbers and always type it in to google. Typed in the email and this came up and it linked straight to the same number. Haven't replied yet but I think he may get some abuse!!
