Caller name: Soolomona Ulu

This number is used by somebody using the same alias and back story as the number 0428465117 (received hundreds of complaints on this site already). After posting an ad on Gumtree I received a text reply asking me to email more information to solomona009@gmail.com. I responded, thinking it was a general inquiry, however received a lengthy response asking for personal information including address, home phone number and paypal account. Beware of this number, as it is clearly used by the same scammer as the previous one stated.

Received text "is your item still for sale unable to receive text please email Solomona009@gmail.com" so emailed this person and emailed back the following:-

Hello,

Thanks for the swift response, I need you to understand that i am willing and ready to purchase it right away as i really appreciate the price stated in the AD, however i will like you to re-confirm the price by stating it in your return e-mail for verification, possibly have more pictures of it, put it off the AD site and consider me as your favorite buyer as i am buying this for my Dad and due to the nature of my job and my present location as i am a marine engineer...i will not be able to come for inspection,i'm a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.

As for the payment..i can only pay via the fastest and secure way to pay online i.e (PayPal) here, as i do not have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my pay pal account, and this is why i insisted on using pay pal to pay.

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment has been made ...so no shipping included and With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the courier services company agent so you don't have to worry about that as I will be providing you with my drivers licence. It will be so sweet if you can send me your PayPal email now so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply as i don't really have much time on here.If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com.au and sign up its very easy but if you don't feel like signing up, just get back to me with your bank details... i would have loved to talk to you on phone but i work mainly on the sea and our phone network is down on the sea right now due to bad stormy weather, that was why i sent you a text, i even wonder how my message delivered to your phone but for now we can only communicate through the same mailing channel.await your reply asap. Regards, Solomona.

I emailed him back and reminded him the same scam often includes someone working on an aircraft carrier or an oil rig, and thanked him for trying. Haven't heard back yet?

We received a general email today after an advertisement on carsguide.com.au. When we responded to confirm that the car was still for sale, we received the below email which is pretty close to a carbon copy that others on this page have also received.

It all sounded a bit too good to be true so I thought I would firstly check "linked in" given that the person claimed to be a marine engineer, and after no luck finding them, I did a general google search and thankfully came across this site.

Thanks to this site, we avoided any further contact with this person !!

Unfortunately, I think we may have also been scammed from our Gumtree post by "Steve/ Steven" who is also mentioned on this page. We were initially contacted via text message advising they were keen to buy the car for cash (site unseen), so we immediately called the number and it was answered by a guy called Steve. After a discussion on the phone, the person sounded quite legitimate so we arranged a viewing for the next day, however "Steve" never turned up. We immediately rang the number and not surprisingly, the phone was never answered and messages were not responded to.

This person(s) is still running the same scam. Once again, shortly after placing a car sales ad on Drive.com.au and carsales.com.au, they texted me requesting further contact through an email address, solomona009@gmail.com. I own a transport company and am always buying and selling cars.
This idiot has been doing the same scam for years.
His English has improved a little with time but the gist of the message is always the same.
You cant call me and I cant call you but we can email each other. Oh and by the way what is your name and address and bank details?
And by the way I dont want to buy your car its a present for my dad, and I dont want to see the car I will trust the pictures you posted and I will deposit the money in your account because I am that kind of guy that trusts everyone.
What a k**b!!!
But it must be working for him cos he's still doing it after all these years.
Anyhow ive just replied to him saying if he trusts me that much he can give me his bank details and I will withraw the money
