Caller name: 'paypal'
The person called me pretending to be from Paypal, and asked for my email address. I asked them what it was concerning and they wouldn't tell me so I refused to give my email address.
I later called Paypal and they told me that it was not listed on my account that anyone had callled me.
Therefore confirming that it was a scam.
just got a call from this number too...the man sounds like fraudster, asking me to confirm my paypal email and saying that calls are recorded for quality purposes. Paypal needs to do something about this leech! I hung up on him but if he calls back Ill threaten to call the police
Caller name: "Paypal"allegedly
They ask for someone here, right surname but wrong christian name. This has happened a few times now and I tell them I have reported them to TPS. I have no dealings with Paypal. Strangely enough the name they ask for is the same name all scam calls we get ask for.I ask who this person is,their age & details but they say they can't tell me......errr wonder why. They should really get a life, I imagine they sleep at night though....ignorance is bliss after all.
Caller name: Not Known
Had a call from this number today. Again believed to be a scam as I was unwilling to give any details. He directed me to the website though I have nothing to concern myself over as I double checked and all is well. The guy comes across quite genuine so Please be cautious not to divulge any information.
Caller name: Apparently "PayPal"
I have had calls from this number on several occasions and it started off once every few days, now its every day and at least 3 times a day. This has happened before and when i answered, they told me it was paypal and asking me to confirm my email address but i said "No i don't give any details out". If this number calls you DO NOT give them any details what so ever. Not even your name.
My mother keeps receiving phone calls daily asking for me to contact them about my Paypal account. When I phoned they wanted my email address. I refused as I have never used Paypal. They said I could go onto a website and check but do not trust it. They phoned again saying telling my mum that I have not replied to emails. Again I do not trust to open them. If they want me they can write to me or take me to court if i supposedly owe money, as I have never used Paypal to purchase anything.
Caller name: Pay Pal !!!
Left a message on Voicemail claiming that an urgent business matter required my attention. Upon returning call the man was businesslike in manner but vague. It was quickly apparent that he wanted my email address and claimed to be from PayPal but had no details that he was willing to disclose! SCAM
Caller name: paypal
its paypal. if you google the number you will find a paypal web page that instructs you to call that number to correct a negative balance in your account. its automated. bring your account into positive and you shouldnt get a call.
Caller name: Andy
It is Paypal. I gave details, was told not sure why called so went through PayPal website to contact them, got a 6 digit code to type in. Did so and went through to legit Pay Pal person.
They knew I had been called, even telling me the time I was called that morning, and confirming the security questions they have to ask, name, email and last 4 digits of bank account being 3 main ones.
I'm fine with it. If I do get fleeced, at least I told them I was suspicious and it's up to them now to look after my account.
This number phoned me today. They said they were from Paypal and it was about my recent transaction. I'd only made the payment about an hour ago so how can they find this information out so soon, someone hacked the Paypal network and something far worse, my email account / paypal account!!!!
I refused to provide my personal information and the lady got a bit defensive and said that I'd have to phone her back once I'd read the email that they'd sent me. Granted I have an email from Paypal but it only confirms the payment I've made, not any problem that has occurred.
Anyway, I phoned Paypal via the contact phone number on Paypal website and was informed that it appeared on the 'system' that no-one had looked into my account today.
This then led me to putting the phone number in google and hey presto, brought me here.
Thank you for this website and to all the other people complaining about this number..
It is *not* paypal... anyone telling you that it is has either been fully duped or is in on the game.
The caller asks for details so that they can take over your account. Do not give them anything to work with. They called me on a number that is so ex-directory it isn't listed anywhere - pure guess on their part. They invite you to call back because then you will believe you are in touch with a real company. The problem is they do not hang up and are waiting for you to make your next call. You *think* you have a call going out, but in fact you are still connected to the scammer, who then pretends to be PayPal... neat trick, but obvious - PayPal themselves will ask you security questions. If you fail them (do it on purpose) you then get put through to an advisor.
They will ask you a few questions, but point out you are reporting a scam, and that you don't want to confirm a problem on your own account. Ask them to confirm other key account details such as what other phone numbers you have got listed on your PP account. If they can't or won't, hang up.
This is a reasonably easy scam to spot, but it has caught many people out. Be very careful!
Caller name: leo
A guy called Leo rang from this number saying I had a debt issue. TRUE, a recent PayPal cockup left me 30 in negative balance. He wanted way too many bank card details. Its a SCAM. I think PayPal has a dodgy employee selling details of accounts that are a few quid negative balance, hoping that the victim will just give bank details to clear the balance. How did 'leo' get my home number? How did he know I was in neg balance? PAYPAL INVESTIGATE. THERE MUST BE AN ADDRESS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NUMBER
If you fall for this scam you are naive and gullible! I've installed a call blocking app for free on my smartphone. I phoned the proper PayPal number and they confirmed that someone has been trying to set up another PayPal account in my name but they have blocked. You must reset your passwords too.
