Fed up with these unwanted calls, so I bought a new phone - a BT6500 which gives the option of blocking any phone number you want, still shows as a missed call on the register, but the phone does not ring, they cannot leave a message on the answer machine. International and withheld calls can also be blocked but they still have the option of leaving a message, if for example your doctors surgery is withheld they can still leave a message for you.

We keep getting automated calls from companies which end up on our answerphone and have to be deleted. I dialled 1471 and was surprised to find that they had not withheld their number so I noted it. I've just checked the TPS site and they do not cover anything but 'live' calls - this type of thing is outside their remit, unfortunately. My elderly mother gets about three cold/silent/recorded calls a day despite being with TPS.

Phone rang several times. I'm registered with TPS- BT are suppose to stop this happening! I'm disabled & it takes me a long time as I'm in much pain, it takes a lot of effort to reach my phone (which is only for emergencies). I was disgusted when I just got to my phone & the answer machine was just about to kick in, I said hello- then they just hung up as I answered. I can't see well & had to make my way back to my bed after having knocked everything over trying to reach my phone in time for this call that was never even permitted. I have never permitted any company to sell my number, even the council were instructed not to. The company who own this number must literally be going through a list typing in all number combinations possible- fishing every number just to try & catch any vulnerable people they may suck in- isn't that illegal? I could not even report this call until my carer came in. It's unfair as this caused me much distress & worry, wondering if my carer was not coming. I have poor memory, don't know her number & can't even see to dial it either.

I receive 1 to 2 nuisance calls per week although I am TPS registered.

We are TPS as well which means its a complete waste of time.
Its a pre- recorded message regarding financial industry. Claimed we had 'opted in' ... which is bollocks. Go to the ofcom website and make a complaint, thats the only way to put a stop to these annoying calls.
We dont answer the phone now.
Just leave the answerphone off and get your friends to do a short ring first then redial.

This is the second time this week that this number has called about my debt being paid off which is funny because I have none, I am also on TPS but these companys get round their rules some how so what is the point of signing up with them if companys ignore it. I wish this pathetic government would do their job and sort this out once and for all, but they wont do anything because it does not affect them and their millionaire mates.

I pressed 5 to request they stop phoning, this was answered by someone called sarah who put the phone down as soon she realised I did not want a pack sent out. I am sick & tired of getting these calls

Rang me today. I only ever answer calls from numbers that I know or am expecting a call from. They didn't leave a message, so obviously not important. I am ex-directory and registered with TPS, so who is selling them my number????

Recorded message claimed I had opted in to receive financial service updates. RUBBISH! Pressed 5 to speak to someone as instructed and when said I'd like to know when I opted in as our number is on TPS they hung up immediately.
I sometimes think the way to deal with these people is by feeding completely inaccurate information about your loans and personal details to waste their time the way they waste ours!

Got two calls from the above number within half an hour of each
other.Sounded like the same male voice both times.
The fist call was to repay my debt loan which I don't have, and the second was to make an insurance claim for accident Injury.I have not had an accident.
I have also got similar calls from other numbers over the last few days.

We have now had five calls from this number with a recorded message about paying off debts. The recording says we have opted in to get these calls, which is untrue. We are also with the TPS. I made myself listen right to the end today & there was an option to press 9 and opt out of receiving these calls. I wonder if it will work!

Offering to manage the injury claim of "someone at this number". They have called regularly and have always promised to remove my number from their system. Caller said they were based in Delhi.

This number has just called me with an automated voice offering compensation claims for an old injury recieved. Should I wish to speak to someone then I should press 5 now. I pressed 5 and it didn't connect to anyone, just stayed open.
The call also woke me up as I am night shift and therefor an invasion of my privacy!!!
I am also on TPS but I now believe my phone provider may be selling details to companies. I'm with TalkTalk.
