I was called by this # several times and I finally answered. The call was answered by a man with a very heavy Indian accent. He said I had been awarded a $9000.00 Government grant for the same as all of the above commenters. I was told to call 202-470-3315 and give the money confirmation number JK 305 , to the account mgr., who's name was supposedly (Sean), also very heavy Indian accent. They had my cell #, first and last name and the city, state and zip code. They also knew how old I am, nothing more. They said they needed $350.00 deposit, by credit card, in order for the government to send me the grant money. I told them that the United States Government doesn't ask for a deposit or cc# to receive a grant. The phone immediately went dead. Is there nothing we can do to stop these people? They're preying on uneducated and senior citizens, stealing money from poor (money wise) Americans and sending to India.

Create a new contact in your phone called say "Spam Calls". Add spam number to the spam calls contact and save. Edit spam calls contact and select send caller directly to answer phone. Then save. You will only recieve the call once and they never leave a message. Then add all future spam calls to same contact. If you reach your limit for numbers per contact create a new contact. "spam calls 2".
Back up your contacts so you dont have to repeat the process when you upgrade your phone.

Enjoy!!

I just received a phone call from 000-000-0000 onto my cellphone. I didn't answer it. They left me a voice mail which turned out to be something that sounded like a pre-recorded voice saying something about a pre-paid MasterCard and some suspicious activity.
I don't have any pre-paid cards, let alone a MasterCard or anything of that sort. They must have the wrong number or they must be scam artists expecting me to answer their call so that they could somehow harvest my personal information. I'm not even calling them back. What do you think might be happening?

How does this continue to happen when i am on the do not call or fax list. If the NSA/Gov. can trace calls to all of us why can they not stop this mess. what a joke... I have received calls in the past from my garbage company, that there will be a delayfof 1 day, due to a holiday that week.
This number called today, but here's the good part. I signed up to nomorobo.com 3+ months ago. They already had the number in there database, so my phone only rang 1 time. Letting me know that they are blocked from getting through to me. What happens is within that 1 ring, it answer's and hangs up.
The amount of bogus calls has just about stopped and i am free to go online to add new numbers.
i highly recommend signing up to nomorobo.com.

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I received a call from "Windows" telling me that my computer was ok to use but it was running low on resources. As a person who builds and owns multiple PCs, I know a thing or two about how computers work. I asked them what type of computer I have. He answered "our records show that you have a windows machine". Aside from the number being "0000000000", these were just two more red flags. A: "Windows" is not a company, it's an operating system made by the Microsoft company. B: "Windows" isn't a machine, and any professional company who is able to track the level of resources that my computer is using would know not to refer to a computer brand as a "Windows machine". I asked "and what do you think my name is again?" They hung up.

30 seconds later I got a call again from the same number. This time is was somebody else with an accent telling me that they were calling from the US Government because I'd been randomly selected to receive a $9000 government grant. As a US citizen, I know that nothing is random when it comes to the US Government, and also, the Government doesn't reach out and voluntarily give money away without some sort of initial action/request on the recipient's part.

I waited a few seconds in silence until just before he was about to ask if I was still there. Then in a low, monotone voice I repeated over and over and over "Please remove this number from your records"...over and over. The guy on the other end started trying to talk over me, but I just kept going. "You are a scam, you will be reported to the FBI" (empty threats, mostly said it to give variety). This literally went on for about 2 minutes straight with no stops. Paused for a split second every now and then to take a breath. Eventually I ended the call.

He immediately called back. I sent him to voicemail. He immediately called back again. This time I answered in an Indian accent, "HELLO!"

Silence for a moment, and then I heard him say quietly "F*** you."

"OHHHH HO HO!!! Really! OH RRRRRRRREAAAAAAAALLLLLY! OH REALLY!" (heavily rolling my R's) "OH RRRRREAAAA[ended my call mid-"really").

My phone rang yet again from the same number, but I sent it to voicemail. They didn't call again, but once I got to work (this was all in the car over sync) I saw that they were calling me via my Google voice number. I put them on my block list, but as the number isn't necessarily available, we'll see if blocking them works. Otherwise, I'll continue to be completely ridiculous when they call. I may even start hitting "record" in the google voice settings when they call. We'll see how they like it when the Google voice lady informs them that the call is being recorded. If they don't care, then it'll be fun messing with them.

I don't mess with normal telemarketers like this. When legit telemarketers call I'm usually really polite. Their job sucks, but at least they're legit about it. When these scammers call, the gloves are off. Use it as an opportunity to vent your frustration in whatever way you feel comfortable. My way is to just be ridiculous and say the stupidest things ever. You could also only respond in the form of a question...that's a fun one. Questions could be random or specific to what they're asking. Gain something from your time that they're wasting. They called you...they're trying to scam you...you have no obligation to save them any time or show them any respect.
