This organization has phoned me many times in the past, and pressing 2 does not prevent me from receiving subsequent calls. That is just a gimmick to deflect the call recipient's anger at getting the unsolicited and expressly prohibited call; he is deluded into thinking that this will be just a one-time experience and that the form will respect its promise not to call again. Accordingly, I pressed 1 to talk with the representative. He refused to tell me the name of the company; he demanded that I first provide him my detailed information.
The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association is selling tickets to a concert. The money raised will help educate children and to help those who have been burned. The concert is in April 2014 and Sly & The Family Stone is the group playing at the concert. Sounds legit to me. http://www.rpffa.com/about-us.html
THis number calls me every night between 7:30 - 8:00. I think it is one of those scammy fire fighter fake calls so I never answer it. I never will and it's too bad they don't know I will never answer. If you combined everyone doing what I am doing, they are wasting a huge amount of time. It's probably one giant computer dialer splashing out dials a million per minute and hoping something sticks.
I answered the phone, and it took a few seconds before somone spoke back. (Bad sign, means you're called by an automatic dialer) The person said, "Hello (my first name)." I said ,"Who is this?" He hung up. If this was legitimate, he would have given me his pitch for a donation or whatever. For general info, I have a Panasonic KXTG series cordless phone. When you get a call like this, you can go to the missed call list you ca BLOCK the number. Sometimes you'll hear a very brief ring, like it was cut off, and the caller ID will show that it was one of the blocked numbers. I think it will save up to 30 numbers, I just keep deleting the oldest ones. This phone is worth every penny I paid for it.
