Caller hung up when voicemail kicked in. Getting tired of these calls. DNC list a joke. Blocked all the calls I can with my phone service. Now thinking of moving to unlisted number. Wonder if that makes any difference, if these are robo calls. Anyone know?
Did not answer. I never answer land line or cell phone unless I recognize and want to speak with caller as identified on caller ID. Anyone Expecting the DNC list to be effective probably believes it will be possible to collect social security forever. Good luck with that.
"Caller hung up when voicemail kicked in. Getting tired of these calls. DNC list a joke. Blocked all the calls I can with my phone service. Now thinking of moving to unlisted number. Wonder if that makes any difference, if these are robo calls. Anyone know?" Best defenses against these types of calls: 1. Your phone number is as 'invisible' as you make it. If you are filling out forms (online, on paper, or verbally) and putting your phone number out there, you are giving these people (albeit by third parties) your phone number to call you. It does not matter if you are on the DNC List or if you have an unlisted number: If you insist on giving your phone number out to anyone and everyone, you will get spam phone calls. Therefore, the first line of defense, is not to give your phone number out. It is easy enough to politely decline when asked for your phone number. "No, Thank you" goes a long way. 2. Do not pick up the phone when you receive a call from a number you do not recognize. If you don't pick up, they cannot spam you. 3. Do not be in a rush to get to the phone when it rings. If you have voicemail, answering service or an answering machine, that is your safety net. Friends and family will either call back, or as in #2, you'll know the number and you'll call them back if you do not get to the phone in time.
Same thing. Called in but won't talk. A machine. Obviously these are not telemarketers per se, because they never talk. Perhaps they just automatically zing through generated numbers to identify active ones (or check some given numbers, if they are active)?
