Caller claimed to be Sheriff Gary Maddox from Lamb County, Texas. Demanded that I pay $584 for a defaulted Pay Day loan from USA First Cash and threatened to have the case transferred to my local area in California and have me arrested at my work. Did a reverse lookup online. This number is registered in Slaton, Tx which is in Lubbock County and nearly 60 miles away. By the way....Google search revealed no USA First Cash.
Caller claims to be Sheriff Gary Maddox of Slaton County Texas calling about a debt to a payday loan company and an impending arrest warrant to be issued in 2 days if payment is not made via a green dot money card. He has accurate personal information that would probably have been given to obtain a payday loan. I have no outstanding debts to a payday loan company but have used themm in the past. A call to the Slaton County Clerk's office confirmed this to be a scam and that the FBI has been notified. The caler is persistent and keeps calling back on my work and cell phones. He has my address, DL, and SSN. Very scary. Don't send this guy any money. He gave a badge number of 159775699. He called back from a different number 407-504-4880 and then said that he was calling in regards to a family emergency.
This guy called my cell phone first. Then called my work phone. I have been getting these calls from different area codes so I know what to expect. Starting reading me a legal complaint against me and told me not to interrupt. When I did he got biligerent. I told him not to call me at work any more and hung up. He called back and I told him again not to call me at work anymore. He said he would keep calling. I hung up again. He called again. I picked up and hung up. He called at least 3 more times. I picked up and hung up each time. The guy is a persistent little bugger.
A man keeps calling my phone saying i need to get in touch cause i have a legal matter pending and if i don't deal worth it i will have and arrest warrant. He then called my work and said he needed to get in touch with me cause i had a family emergency. I have had several of these calls and i report them all, not cool
This person said a complaint was filed against my name but couldn't give me any information like the date and amount. He said that a warrant has been issued for my arrest from Texas. He also had all my information which is very scary. Thank God I didn't give him any of my information and immediately did a reverse phone look-up after I hung up.
Claimed to have a warrant for arrest in Texas and would send it to my local area. Called at work where I am a manager and said he was a Sheriff and needed to speak with me. Knew all my personal information, scared me but I know better, a law enforcement person would never ask for money, it's just not something they do. Still, it scared the c**p out of me. He claimed I owe $700+ dollars for a payday loan in the past 12 months. Total BS, just not true. I told him this and he said someone used my identity and I needed to pay. I told him to go ahead and send the warrant to my local PD and he hung up. I suggest you call his bluff. I also contacted the real Sheriff Gary Maddox in Lamb County Texas via email and am waiting for a reply.
I just received a call from this guy, first on my cell phone, then on my work phone. He sounds like an Indian trying to sound like a Texan. How terrible. I was shook for a second but then realized his efforts to sound as American as possible was failing. I've gotten a call like this before because I used to take out payday loans and they're always Indians trying to get your money. Don't even feed into what they say.
Called looking for my sister and said it was an emergancy, when she called him he told her if she didn't pay an outstanding debt from some payday loan place he was gonna send the police in her area to arrest her. He had all her personal information I really hope they catch this guy.
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I called the Lamb County Sheriff Office and there is an investigation currently going on concerning this matter, with them and the FBI. They took my information and said someone will be contacting me. This is the second time this group attempted this. They have also called from Miami Florida, same group, and tried the same thing, only this time they said their name was Ricky Clark, an attorney. When you call the number back, there is a recording stating, "You have reached the Lamb County Sheriff Department, we are unable to answer your call at this time, please leave a message."
