This is the second time we've received a call from this company claiming they want to sell us some sort of medic alert system. In the last year, we've had a sharp increase in telemarketing calls despite being on the Do Not Call list. This company does not want to take no for an answer.
well, they are now back in Buffalo, NY again! keep calling 2 x per day. had p/u once and spoke to some lady and told her to remove me. yah! what a nuisance and it cannot be stopped because they use a phone # that "not in service". can anyone do something about this?
This is about the 20th time we have received this call saying they are calling to schedule the delivery of a medic alert system. We have never inquired about this and our number has been on the do not call list for a long time! It is so frustrating!
The robo-calls are about a "prepaid" medical alert system. The scam is that you are supposed to press #1 or #5 to accept or decline...which tells everyone you actually answered the phone and your number can be sold to MORE jerks for MORE scams. These scams work because stupid people pick up the phone. And people think if they are on a DON'T CALL LIST that's enough. No. Report these azz-holes here: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints Make them get new numbers or get fined. Whining "Make them stop" is not enough. PS. Since Verizon LOVES these scammers and makes money off them, they won't let you block numbers like this. They won't listen to your complaints. You'll have to buy a phone that can block numbers. Get a Panasonic phone answering machine. It'll block up to 50 specific numbers (but I guess they aren't allowed to offer area-code blocking. Verizon's little Hitlers lobbied against that?)
These people knew about a prior medical situation and this is a HIPPA violation as it was a recorded call. I've contacted an attorney and it is an actionable suit as it was recorded and this company gave medical info via message. They had no idea as to who they would have contacted. Calls on this phone are always recorded as this is the line connected to my alarm. I need to find this company and file charges. It's worth the cost of an attorney.
