They called and asked me to press one if I wanted lower interest rates. I pressed one, foolishly believing that I could reprimand them for calling me as I am on Gov NO CALL LIST. A person, James came on the phone and I started to say, " I have asked that my number be taken..... And I heard a dial tone. They hung up on me. I tried to call back and an announcement came on that said that this number was a "non-working" number.
Why can't something be done about these calls? I am being harassed by these people. They call repeatedly. I have had two calls today already and they HANG UP ON ME when I ask the name of their company or ask them to remove my name from their list. This is ridiculous and has been going on for months and months. There is rarely a week that goes by without a call from these people. I have to keep my home phone forwarded to my cell phone because of an elderly parent and I am having to pay for the minutes thet are used when they call--I am having to pay to be harassed. This is totally ridiculous. Why can't something be done? What happened to the "Do Not Call" program. Totally useless. In this country and with the technology that we have, why is this going on?
Many of these calls are coming from Costa Rica and India and they are using spoofed (false) numbers, which in itself is illegal. They do cold calling for or sell the leads to numerous companies in this country and they know that what they are doing is illegal. Tomorrow this same number may be selling Cruises, Timeshares or Security Systems but if you follow the money it usually ends up in the hands of an American LLC. Most of the inbound robo call numbers are spoofed, as most of the bolierhouses, both off and on shore, are using Voip SIP Trunks services. Throwaway DID numbers are also used. Some of the robocalling is operated by the end use scammers directly. Others are contract services who earn a referral fee once you are transferred to the scammers. The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them nothing and they can make millions of them a day so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number. Unfortunately blowing an air horn or whistle doesn't work either. Their headset have noise dampeners plus they are expecting it. However with that said if it makes you feel better then by all means give it a shot. The banking system is also at fault here, without merchant accounts and ACH processing these criminals could not collect the scammed funds. Though the criminals use obfuscation, layered corporations, multiple bank accounts and offshore stashing, patterns of obvious fraudulent activity become apparent after a short time. This is an all out attack from these scum suckers! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft the FBI should be forced to get involved. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties). If you want to stop these calls then you need to dry up their revenue source. Your phone company is charging you a fee for caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending the caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay $5 to $15 to your phone company. The scammers send out millions of calls which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers. This may have something to do with their inability to stop these calls. In order to stop this we need legislation making it illegal to charge for caller ID. If a phone service wishes to operate it would need to provide the caller ID at no charge as part of the service. Here is the $50,000 solution that the FCC is looking for and it doesn't cost anything. The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com In their own words: 'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet. ANOTHER call from this number. Caller ID said "LOWER INTEREST" which means they will try and SCAM you into giving them your credit card number so they can STEAL money from you in the form of BOGUS CHARGES. DO NOT ANSWER their calls and NEVER call them back. TOTAL SCAM.
Since last 8 month these out Law people, Ceredit Card Service call me almost every day with diffrent numbers. I am in Don't call list form the inseption of the law. Thes frudulant scames don't care about how many time you ask them not to call you or what the Law said. To day I reprted my 59 th to FCC and asked them they do sometning to stop these people. Unfortunatly FCC is non working govenment establishment. they never responded to me or I heard anything. I believe the people should demand this office to do job and respnd to the inqiuries of the people. Today I got ywo diffrent phone from Credit Card Service. 616-613-2092 and 302-731-1166.
Called AGAIN today. This time ans. machine recorded the message, the text of which I will transcribe here. Keep in mind the recordings start WHILE your outgoing message is still playing, so it only records a partial message: ".....break in payments. Press 1 now to find out the terms, conditions and associated changes before the next billing cycle. Again, this is your FINAL notice as it relates to the Financial Stimulus. So, press 1 NOW to take advantage of this today." All this in a very 'professional' sounding woman's voice. IRONICALLY, we are in the "SEQUESTER" time period of the Congressional One-Upmanship Game. So much for the "financial stimulus"!!! I have recorded my complaint, along with the above text of the recording, to the FCC, for all the good it will do. Oh, wait, maybe they are 'furloughed" or "sequestered" right now!
Incessant phone calls from this number over the last few months - starts with pre-recorded message to "lower interest rates". I have just hung up many times, but decided to answer the phone to request that my name be taken off the list. The person calling himself "Jason White" was rude beyond rude. Said he didn't have time to "listen to all my problems" and hung up on me. It is 2:30 in the afternoon and I have received THREE calls from this exchange:(
LAST WEEK, I got SIX CALLS from "ALA"; supposedly "American Lung Association" from a series of FOUR "202" Area code numbers. NOTE: This SAME week got ZERO "LOWER INTEREST" CALLS. Finally, on Good Friday (!!) I picked up and DEMANDED to know the caller's NAME and WHAT TELEMARKETING FIRM she worked for. She claimed her name was "Miss Pellegrino" and that she worked for "INFOCISION" calling "on behalf of ALA." She KNEW MY NAME and ADDRESS when she started her speil about "not asking for money" but wanted me to "distribute brochures and ENVELOPES (for COLLECTING $$$)" to my 'friends and neighbors.' I *DEMANDED* my name, address and PHONE NUMBER be REMOVED from their database. She began to ARGUE with me and insisted they were "Exempt due to being a 501C (non-profit)". I countered with, "You are only exempt UNTIL I expressly TELL you to STOP CALLING ME, and then YOU HAVE TO REMOVE ME FROM YOUR LIST, BY LAW." She said "OK, and then tried to give me the ADDRESS of the ALA (I'd already looked it up, myself, online.) Soooooo, NO MORE calls from "ALA" today, ***BUT, the calls from "OTHER" SPAMMERS started UP AGAIN, today.** as in "LOWER INTEREST and one with supposedly a DOMINICAN REPUBLIC number. CONNECTION??? I think so. I think the same SCUMBAG TELEMARKETER that calls for "ALA" is ALSO the one calling us for "LOWER INTEREST" and "ADA", and BOGUS "Collections" and "Surveys" and EVERYTHING ELSE. I think the TELEMARKETER COMPANY/Companies are ALL OWNED BY A FEW VERY FILTHY RICH, COMPLETELY SOCIOPATHIC SCUMBAGS THAT ARE IN SOME CONGRESS-PEOPLE'S **POCKETS** and NOTHING IS GETTING DONE because these THIEVES are PROTECTED BY THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT.
