404-201-6957 Poses as AT& T, but makes me wonder if they really are. Collects info that AT& T should already have, with assurance that AT& T is trying to make all the internet customers in my rural area upgraded for the newer technology that has not previously available to us. I answered their questions and they are supposed to send a tech out on Thursday. I will not be letting them in!
Will contact AT& T today to hope that my phone service is not being slammed to another carrier.
I got a call from them with the above captioned caller ID number. The other people here say it was ATT wireless but I don't have ATT wireless. I talked to ATT and they say these people are not affiliated with ATT although the caller ID indicatres so. Normally if ATT were to call they would leave a 1-800 ATT number so I suspect it is fraud. They called at dinner time. Filed complaint as we are on the do not call list and have no business with these people.
Got a call from this number in the evening yesterday and again at 9:19 this morning. AT&T Serv Center. I do not buy from people calling me, when I want to change my contract or service with a company I call them. With all the scam calls today I just never pick up anymore. In fact most of the time my phone with the answering machine is unplugged with a caller ID hooked to another phone, which I check through out the day. Saves on the nerves hearing even that first ring that signals blocking taking place. Peace reins in my home now and the important calls get returned promptly.
I called AT&T early in January, after a 4 month hospitalization, to request WiFi and U-Verse service. I waited all day, the day they were supposed to do the work, but no one came. Turns out they were here, but they disconnected my phone, early in the morning. Without the phone, I cannot answer the door to let them in. The next day, the person in the office called and got my phone back on and have been getting this call ever since.
Two to five times a day they call.
They wanted my SS#, which I refused to give, and once asked for my phone #, which they obviously already had. Two weeks after that service call I had to go back in the hospital for 2 days, had a 100% blockage in my heart. If I hadn't have been able to call the ambulance, I would not be here today. I explained all that to the caller and told him I do not want to reschedule the changes. It's like talking to a stone. Since then, they've called 3 or more times a day. I've told them to stop calling many times. Now I don't answer any longer, but they keep calling and never leave a message. The first call this morning was before 8 am.
If, as a previous commenter stated he/she was told, the call is not coming from AT&T, then it must be someone who works for them, or has access to their records, otherwise, how do they know I had requested a change of service, in the first place, which I subsequently had canceled?
I sure hope they can be found and stopped.
I have already posted about this number being someone calling from ATT and it is AT&T when you get through to them and they tell you can go to the AT&T website to see all the exciting offers. Since my last post I have been called at least 3 times a day by this number and twice a day by 404-201-6957 so that makes 5 phone calls a day. Through research I found out that if you decide to go with UVerse you will pay around $600-$800 in service fees for hooking you up. UVerse does not come through your phone line, but has to have special wiring into your home and depending if your wiring is in good shape or not the price changes. When they hooked up my phone 10 years ago I got a service bill for over $1000. Yes $1000 is what the bill was. The house already had phone lines they just had to check them out. They never told us before hand so we were floored but we could pay it so that was that. However I will never have AT&T ever do any work on my lines again at a new residence or get any of their products. It is a ripoff. According to Consumer reports UVerse is mediocre at best falling half way down the scale.
This number has tried to call my home phone number 4 times in the past 2 days but has been blocked every time by Nomorobo.
It never has shown anything about AT&T on the caller ID. It always appears as RICE MOTLEY. There is a legal firm based in South Carolina that is named Motley Rice (after 2 of its founding members). It has offices in several other states but nothing in Georgia. Someone is doubtless spoofing the name.
I answered twice and they hung up both times. Since I recently changed to Uverse service I thought the call was legit and I dialed the number. I got a menu that offered to put me on their Do not call list. A recorded voice then asked for my name and number to put on the do not call list. I gave my name but then realized it might not be AT& T so I hung up but they obviously already had my number. I am on the Federal Do Not Call registry but that obviously doesn't help.
