Someone with a thick Indian accent saying that the U.S. Government is giving me grant money because I pay all my bills (phone, electrical, other). I do not have a phone bill or an electric bill. When I tell them, they hang up and then call again a few hours later.
They called telling me that I have errors on my computer, and that I needed to download something in order to correct it. I hung up on them and they called back immediately. I don't feel comfortable downloading something that someone on the phone says I need...
First time they called was yesterday. Recognized as a scam and told them so. Blew loud noise in their ear. Now they are harassing me this morning. Have called three times in less than an hour. No way to block as Time Warner says it is an invalid phone number. go figure!
This number has called me 23 times in the last 10 days--as many as 6 times in day alone. I have picked up three times--once they claimed to be tech support for my PC (which I don't even own), once just background noise like a call center, and one time the automated voice that said "good bye." Phone company can't block them because they aren't 9 digits, can't file a complaint on do not call list for the same reason, phone company suggested I file a complaint with the police, but that won't do anything. Really hoping someone figures out a solution to this because I know I'm not the only one dealing with this annoyance.
I've gotten the calls also. Hard to understand them. The callers told me that since I have so many error reports that if I don't fix it my hard drive will crash. Didn't believe a word of it. Called MIcrosoft Technical Support. These callers are hackers and the last thing you should do is follow their directions.
Just talked to a guy from Verizon about this. He said with Droid you can download the app, Mr. Number, that will help. You can't block the number directly because it's not a valid number but you are able to block suspected spam calls with that app. That should help stop the calls.
Claims to be with Microsoft and receiving multiple error messages from my account. The IT dept. at my corp. has already warned of this scam, like I would have believed it to start with. I relish in wasting their time, answering their questions, delaying the call to waste their time when my time in not at a premium. They should now know the worlds to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and the phrase "FU".
This # continuously calls our house. I let it go to VM the first few times but after repeated calls I answered and got background noise and a woman speaking in a foreign language. This afternoon "William" claimed I had a ton of error reports and viruses on my computer that hasn't been turned on in over 6 months. There is no battery in it and I don't have it plugged in. If they call back again I'm gonna be pissed
THIS NUMBER CALLED MY HOME AR 2:38 AM...WTF??? They said nothing. After reading the other comments on this page, they must have called before as I have gotten calls about support for my computer, and they knew what type of PC I had...very scary!
Keep getting calls from 234567890 and person has an accent and it hard to understand. They say that they represent Microsoft Windows and that my computer is about to crash and they want to walk me thru on the computer what I need to do to fix it. I talked to a computer tech--Microsoft doesn't make personal calls, and this is a scam to get access to your computer. They ask for your credit card number too!
I've been receiving these calls at my work number. I've only answered once and it was the scatter-shot pretend to be English speaking alien saying something about Microsoft and my computer. I told them to remove my name and number from their list. So, or course they keep calling. Fortunately, I have caller ID at work and can send them right to voice mail although maybe it is time to learn how to say "Go F Yourself" in a variety of oriental and mid-east languages?
