FYI, they claim they are calling from Comfix and that your computer is infected with a virus. It is a scam. Hang up on these guys. They have no way of knowing if your computer is infected. Case in point I told him I had 4 computers and asked which one is infected. He said the one running windows 7. Well all of my computers are Apple products so none of them run windows. He called me several names and then hung up on me :)
My caller ID shows from Texas. The caller was from India! I told him I couldn't understand him... I asked him to spell out what he was saying. "W I N D O W S 7 , E R R O R R E P O R T" on my computer... I asked to get someone who SPEAKS ENGLISH ... his supervisor got on... He also was from India. I told him my brother-in-law is an FBI agent and I would like more information...... He hung up! Go figure!
This must be the same India group that calls from many spoofed US numbers, who of course the phone companies won't stop. They claim to we "Windows" support, but when you bite the hook and accept their help, your computer is implanted with various back doors to allow them to rip you off. Check out NOMOROBO.com, it's a private company that the government actually paid to get started. It has stopped 90 percent of my ROBO calls.
Caller ID identified the number as someone from San Antonio, Texas. I answered but couldn't understand the caller. The caller had a very strong foreign accent, plus the connection was really bad. Due to the accent and the bad connection I didn't know what he said but figured that he was trying to sell me something. I told him that I wasn't interested but thanks for calling and hung up. Approximately 2 hours later I receive a call from the same number. I didn't answer it this time. Glad I found this site and now know that these people are a scam.
A man with a big accent just called, pretending to be from Microsoft and said that I had computer problems and to turn on my computer so he could help. My computer was already on (so right then it sounded scam). He said use the crtl key. I hung up. He called again but I didn't answer. The number was indeed 210-526-6628. I'm in Canada. Can someone stop these *!@#$%?& scammers!!!!?
Caller said they had received an error from my windows machine. Only thing, we don't have any windows machine sin the house. He said the company was configserv? Looked them up and didn't find anything. Called the number back and got a message "Lines are temporarily busy".
So far I have received 5 calls from these computer hackers. They are telling me I have a security problem. When I tell them I called Microsoft and they know nothing about this service they hang up on me. At the last one I just kept yelling "STOP CALLING ME" over her, she just would not shut up!
Just noticed answer machine flashing, checked call display and discovered their call came at 6:30 AM. I know its a scam and my new way of dealing with them is to thank them for their help and tell them I will contact my IT guy right away and get the problem fixed.
If you have Verizon you can block up to 10 numbers on your home phone from your TV. On your remote go to menu , then fios digital voice (ok), Then calling features (ok),Then incoming call block. Add phone numbers to block then. (ok)
