This number called my home land line and left a voice mail stating that they were Verizon Wireless and there has been a change in the status of the account of (They said my first and last name). They went on to say that I need to call them back in the next 24 hours and input cell number (they spouted off one of my kids phone numbers - which of course is in my name). They said call 800-249-2462 and input my cell number that they gave to me to find out about this status change. I didn't do it of course......I did however call Verizon Residential and Verizon Wireless and let them hear the voicemail for themselves. They confirmed that this is a phishing scheme. So watch out for this one!!!!

I've been getting calls from this number this week, too. I've already had 4 calls today with the same message you've described. Thank you for posting, so I know that this is a scam! How annoying!

Its Verizon letting you know your cell service is scheduled to be disconnected because your bill is past due. At least that is what it was for me.

This number is calling twice a week and not leaving a message, just a hangup. still annoying, want them to stop. I am also not behind in our bill.

Received vmail message on my land line stating caller was from Verizon, that changes had been made to our account and to call 800-249-2462 within 24 hrs. They referenced a phone number not associated with our account. I called Verizon Wireless and they confirmed it was a fraudulent call. Caller ID was 206-315-3010 and listed as Varolii Corp in Seattle. Reported this to Varolii as well.

I don't know if Verizon claims any association with the number, but I definitely get calls from that number when my bill is overdue. When I paid my bill, the calls stopped immediately.

I also got text messages asking me to call 800-249-2462. I get these every time my bill is overdue.

My question would be: if these aren't from Verizon (which they don't seem to be), how does a third-party know that my bill is overdue?

Honestly, the calls from 206-315-3010 are basically reminders that I need to pay my bill. If Verizon isn't working with these guys, they owe them something.

I get calls from this number, too! They are calling a number assigned to my MagicJack device. I never answer it and they never leave messages.

I have received numerous calls from this number.. It must be some outsourced company that verizon uses. They have only called me when my account is overdue and my phone services are about to be disconnected unless a payment is made.
