I was called and informed that due to my clean record, paying my taxes on time, and no ever filing bankruptcy that the government has selected me to win 9,000 dollars in grant money. Too good to be true I know, I am supposed to call "Paul Jefferson" at 347-573-9347, give him my confermation code, and receive my grant money. I have called and the line is constantly busy. No surprise there.
Something to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list: Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas. When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc. I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc. Iíve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages. Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment. Also realize this when you call a companiesí customer service line and get horrible service from the call center thatís been hired by the company. One time while on a call with our bankís customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companiesí customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse Ė you may be talking to an operator thatís drunk or on something. After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bankís call center, we gave up and closed the account. With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they canít always respond to vandalism and break-ins when itís witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood. Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered. These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc. Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into. Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town. One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess thereís no laws requiring this Ė there should be. Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation. I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that thereís no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own while the town is taken over by the crime these call centers bring into the neighborhoods....
I am getting everyday calls from that number, they offer the same grant for 9,000 they have my info, which is up there any way. They want me to give them my bank account I said NO, I told them I don't believe it, and they are just trying to steal money. But the guy insists...
This number called my wifes phone, I told him he better stop calling and I hung up, he called back right away threatening to shoot me and kill my family. So i listened to him and gave him fake information, and he kept offering a 9000 dollar grant. talk about some bull c**p. if I have to track the guy down, and deal with this myself, i will.
I had a hard time understanding what she was saying because our connection was bad and she called my cell phone. I finally heard what she said and she offered me a $9000 grant that the government said I could have. She said I bet you want to know why you were picked. I said Yup sure do.. Then she proceeded to tell me that last Dec the government did a survey in my City and State and because I have paid my taxes and have not filed bankruptcy in the last 6 months that I can get it. I proceeded to inform her that SINCE last Dec I have moved out of state. There was a pause on the line and she repeated what she said. I said to her I dont think you understand me lady. I DONT LIVE IN THAT state anymore. Then she said what you dont want the money. I said no thank you.. Well its your money not ours. I said that is ok I dont live in that state anymore so I dont want to get in trouble. Then she hung up on me.
It was a foreign woman who called to say that my government has been trying to get in touch with me because they picked 700 people to receive $9000 to do just good things with and I was one of those people, And if I wanted the money by Cash, Visa or MasterCard. I replied you can send me a visa card. She then replied no no I explain- you have Visa card right? you give us the number when I pass you over to our count supervisor and we put it on your card. I then told her that I was not going to give her any of my credit card information. And then replied why don't you just put it into my checking account. And then continued to tell her - you are the government, you send me a check every month, so you have my account information already So just put it in there. She then replied let me explain, we tried a few months ago to make such deposit and he came back as an error and because of that we no need to do either Visa MasterCard or cash and I said okay I'll take the cash you can wire me the money! no we give cash by your checking account I then said I thought you had an error that way! and then I hung up.
OMG I received a call today from this number telling me that I was granted a 9000.00 federal grant and would I like to receive it through my checking account ,mastercard, visa, or cash when will these people ever stop... when I laugh and told the guy he was a scam he said no no no scam I thought this was too funny so I hung up and he did not call back..
A guy who was very difficult to understand,said i was selected by our government to receive a grant. He gave me a confirmation # lm710 and phone # 202 738-4703. He was gonna transfer me but i refused and hung up. Why can we get these b******s to stop this c**p.
SOB called and wanted to give me a $9000.00 grant for NO REASON from the United States!!! I asked is this for my education and he said no, for anything I want.... i said that he was full of s**t and to lose my number.... Scammers...too bad our government aint doing more to catch these fuckers....seems like this number has been going for a while...hard to trace????????
They have called me about 7 times in the last week saying I have been selected to receive a $9000 grant to do what ever I want with it. They asked for my bank account number. I said if your the government then u have the number. They said they don't have access how about a Visa card. I said ok send me a Visa card. Their English is not that good i told them if they want me to get this money then put someone on the phone who actually speaks english. They asked for the number of my Visa card. I said no you send me one. They said they can't do that how about western union. I said send me a check. They told me to call the account manager an give him the info to set everything up. Yeah right. I have enough debt on my own. I don't need someone to add to what I already have. I wasn't born yesterday!!!
I just started getting the calls again, after about a year of getting them to leave me alone. I used to get in yelling matches, I actually had one man call me a b*tch after refusing to give him information. If they ask for you, tell them the person with that name died. Or wrong number. I told them the death thing, and that kept them off my back for a year.
So they have called 4-5 times over a 6 month period. Each time they go through their story about how since I filed my taxes on time and have not filed bankruptcy the government picked 1700 folks to get free money that was not necessary to be repair. They said I was to get 9000.00. Each time they call its a different amount. I knew in advance it was a SCAM. So I played along. They wanted to verify information like address, name, DOB, etc. I have them false information. Of course they claimed that matched their records. Stupid wankers. They said I could give them my bank account number and they would put the money directly into my account. Right.......... Or they could put it on a Mastercard or Visa. Right............ Or I could go to Western Union location and get cash for a handling fee. Right..................I could hear dozens of voices in a call center. They man had a heavy Indian accent and had to repeat things multiple times. Finally they put me on the phone with a supervisor that would walk me through the process of going to Western Union, give them a 'code' to collect my money. They code would be their account number for the fee. Once their, one of their folks would get on the phone to handle the instructions which means they would tell them to take your money. Dont fall for these SCAMS. F*CK the Indian call centers. I played along to waste their time until I finally told them while I had them on the line I pulled up their number and read off information about their SCAM. You will likely be surprised but they actually hung up on me? Wha??????? :-)
They called from some type of call center. There was a lot of background noise. Said they were the government and I got a $9000 grant. When I said I couldn't understand him and asked for a number to call him back for a better connection he hung up.
Guy with indian accent, said he was calling fron u.s. government grant dept from washington, d.c. for $9000 claim. Not to mention it was saturday when gov office closed and he called my husband phone. He said I could choose bank info, visa card or western union to receive the grant. But, when I said I dont feel comfortable giving that info to send me this info in writing for me to confirm..... click...... he hung up. Not surprised
These scammers are persistent! No idea how long they have been trying to call me. I have noticed DC #'s for sometime and just thought it was a political organization in DC! 09/07@11:45 am I answered the phone, but before that when the sheriff was here my caller ID showed the same # 09/06@10:35 am, 09/05@11:15am,09/02@2:59am,08/30@5:35am, He said because I paid my taxes on time, and have not filed bankruptcy, that I was getting 9k in grant money. No taxes to pay on it and all he needed was my bank about number. As that old saying goes if something sounds too good to be true it usually is.... I told him that my husband had the bank information and he needs to call back in a couple hours. Then I called the law!
