I received a call from 031 3278100 - i was informed that he was calling from the credit bureau and wanted to confirm my ID number - he read the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits of my ID number to which I told he I do not pass any personal information over on a phone. I tried calling this number but the number stays enganged. What is this - what type of scam is this?

Received a call last week and today. Idiot looking for my wife on MY cell. As soon as I confront him, he hangs up the phone, when I call back, also always enganged.

1st called from a pvt no. New my first name although calling on my company's (prepaid!) cell phone. Very persistent, even though I politely said I'm really not interested. Asked about what contracts I have, how much I spend, what SP I'm with. Eventually put the phone (with her still on the line) on the desk & continued with work. Then a call came from this number, which I didn't answer. When I call back the "number is not in use".

Received a phone call about my MTN contract and that I qualified for a Tablet and free airtime due to me having the contract with MTN for many years. They had my ID number and asked me to confirm my details re employment and whether I work shifts or not. I told them that I was not prepared to disclose information as I had already been a victim of a phishing scam and was not prepared to fall prey to that again. Who are these people?

This lady called me to offer me a contract phone from mtn, i told her i will walk into a mtn centre and make arrangements there as it was a good deal and was interested but didnt feel comfortable giving my personal details over the phone. she kept pestering me and she eventually confirmed my id no. which was correct, she asked me for my bank details i didnt provide them and told her to leave it coz i was not prepared to giver those details. i hung up, she hasnt stopped calling me ever since. i have about 18 missed calls from this number -PLEAS STOP CALLING ME
